 What an amazing recognition for TONI&GUY Newtown when Lea-Ann Suthern, Salon Owner, scooped up the award for the AHIA Franchise Business of the Year. The Australian Hair Industry Award [AHIA] is renowned for being the foremost business awards in the Australian hairdressing industry. Held annually within Brisbane’s Convention Centre, the evening is a celebration of the Australian hairdressing industry’s top salon businesses.

We sit down with Lea-Ann to discuss her big win!

So Lea-Ann, how does it feel to have won franchise salon of the year award?

I was very surprised to win this award, as there were some great salons nominated as well (TONI&GUY Broadbeach). It’s always nice to be recognised for your efforts. After being in business for so long, it’s great to feel that you are still motivated to keep moving forward. We are involved in lots of areas in the industry and do a lot for the community so this is an award for the team and our clients as well.

What were your goals in order to achieve even being a finalist in franchise salon of the year award?

If you don’t enter, you’ll never know. The criteria for the nomination took a little time to put together. The TONI&GUY business model gives us so much to draw from and teamed with our own salon culture we had a winning formula.

How has this affected your salon and business and clientele?

Our clients love the fact we have been recognised on a national level. Some of my clients have been with me since I opened the salon, so it’s lovely to share this with them and all the support they have shown me. We are nothing without them. The team thinks that it’s pretty special too.

What is your next goal?

To keep doing what we’re doing! TONI&GUY never stops innovating!
