Q: You’ve had so much experience styling, being a fashion editor and working on the voice. But how did it all begin? How did you get into styling?

As a child I’d always had a love for fashion, initially when I finished high school decided that I wanted to be a fashion designer. I partook in a degree in Fashion and during my tuition was offered a position with a publisher in styling. It was a newer avenue then, but an area in fashion that allowed me to be creative and rethink about the ways existing clothing on the rail could be reinterpreted in new ways.

Q: Can you describe your creative process? How does an idea begin and become an outfit?

It really depends on the job, sometimes an idea will be developed with a designer from scratch – this takes quite a bit of time; it can take weeks if not months. Whilst other times it can be quite impulsive and be something that we pull together really quickly.

Q: What inspires you?

I find that I can be glued to a screen for hours at a time; (which my husband is always laughing about when we are out) as it’s a part of my job, haha.  While it’s easy to say that I find inspiration through social media websites such as Pinterest I am also inspired by when I step away from it. Traveling is something I love to do, (I recently came back from Japan) it inspires me to try new techniques in my styling as well as look out for brands which we may not stock currently in Australia.  Sometimes I’ll find that textures and fabrics in ranges can be a nice starting point to an idea or watching common threads that pop up on the runway during fashion week.

Q: Winter is just around the corner. Are there any trends you’re keeping an eye out for?

COLOURRRRRR!

If you’re like me and wear a lot of monochrome, winter is the right season to add a splash of colour to your look. Step it up this season by adding a bold coat, such as a playful faux fur and have fun by brightening everything up.

Q: What hairstyle are you rocking now?

Right now I’ve got a long bob, in the process of debating whether I grow it back long; so its at a half way point. In saying that though, I’ve been known to play with a mixture of colours in my hair  (I’ve probably had most of the rainbow when it comes to my hair shades!!) – current colour is a mauve/ pink, a bit darker and mature for the colder weather.

Q: How much does a hairstyle and hair colour affect the way you style an outfit?

100%. Certain hair dyes may clash or look dull when paired with wrong wardrobe colours; correct hairstyles can enhance your overall look and even make you appear younger! So, I do believe it is helpful to know when shopping what to look out for.

Q: Why did you decide to team up with TONI&GUY for the unique, Signature campaign?

I’ve had a long-standing relationship with TONI & GUY and it’s always a pleasure working with them so this seemed like a fun opportunity.
